1. You think of Christmas as a holiday but not a vacation day.

2. You earn $10K one month and $0K the following month.

3. You wait until January 1st to drive to the post office because the mileage deduction is higher.

4. You get no satisfaction from stealing office supplies.

5. You meet with your board of directors every evening at the dinner table.

6. You get to make up your own title.

7. You plan to make a few cold calls on the way to Disney World so you can write off the trip.

8. Your billing rate has almost no correlation to your average hourly income.

9. You're unfamiliar with the acronym PTO but intimate with SEP.

10. One day it hits you that you pay twice as much Social Security tax as anyone else but you're not entitled to additional benefits.

Can I add one? You know you're self employed when the premiums for the best insurance policy you can get are still more than your mortgage!

True. self-employed people are hammered by health insurance rates. Been there, lived through that.
