Hubpages Supplants Yahoo as #2 Internet Search Engine

Internet officials announced today that Hubpages.com has supplanted web behemoth Yahoo.com as she second-most busy search engine on the Internet. Google remains firmly ensconced in the #1 position, with Yahoo sliding to third.

Harold Hubpages, official spokesHubber for the fledgling site, noted that Hubpages.com was conceived as an outlet for aspiring writers and Bollywood fans. "However, after only a few years of operation, we have seen a dramatic increase in the use of our innovative "search" feature.", he observed to a standing-room-only press conference at the San Fransisco Airport Holiday Inn .

Repeated attempts to contact representatives at Yahoo.com have proven fruitless. Unsubstantiated rumors indicate that top executives at The Yahoo Corporation may be considering the possibility of forming an investigative committee to examine options that include petitioning for a government bailout or perhaps merging with AOL.

Google spokespeople also remain uncharacteristically mum on this dramatic turn of events. However, keen observers observed that the long-standing Google corporate motto "Be nice" has recently been replaced with "Crush Hubpages."

In a related story, Wikipedia.org, the user-supported web site containing millions of somewhat authoritative web pages, has filed for virtual bankruptcy. Unsubstantiated whisperings in the halls of Wikipedia Tower suggest that WikiLeaders realized they have lost their stranglehold on earnestly unsubstantiated articles.
