AtakAChik - Save the Giant from the Chickens

We all have quirks. Each one of us demonstrates innocuous personality disorders making us different from the rest of us. Should your own personal uniqueness drive you to defend yourself against a baby giant deploying charging chickens, your quest for entertainment has ended.

AtakAChik is not a tasty sandwich, nor an exclamation exclaimed by chicken pluckers suffering from blocked sinuses. In the pantheon of online free chicken games, AtakAChik represents one of them. Deep into the early evening you may lay awake pondering how technology has arrived at this point. On the other hand, you may see the benefit of hurling doughy red blobs into hurtling avian adversaries.

The AtakAChik Back-Story

Any worthwhile free online chicken game includes copious back-story. As far as we know, a baby giant moved into the adjoining farm. Your new neighbor is not happy. The old MacDonald Place has been settled by what appears to be a humanoid baby head the size of Montana. He hovers over the back fence, looking rather upset. Perhaps he just learned how Colonel Sanders became a millionaire.

We know the massive baby head is sad because it gently cries. it doesn't cry salty teardrops: it cries tiny yellow amorphous blobs that drop to the ground and become chickens. The chickens continuously charge. The chickens steadily sprint into your face. No explanation is given as to why bird-shaped tear drops feel the need to invade your personal space, but unless you defend yourself you will lose the game. Don't lose the game.

How does one defend against charging chickens?

Fortunately, you, as the protagonist, are armed with an unlimited cache of weaponry. You have a heart-shaped gun-sight virtually connected to a heart-shaped play-dough launcher. As the chickens approach, aim the sight and click your mouse button to fire. Strategy takes a holiday as you spray the countryside with hazardous waste. A direct hit on an advancing chicken obliterates the threat. The giant continues to cry additional chickens: his sadness knows no bottom.

Shoot the chicken, don't shoot the leopard.
Shoot the chicken, don't shoot the leopard.

Spare the Fauna

Shooting the chickens is stressful. Avoid targeting innocent indigenous creatures wandering through the killing field. Helpless pigs, camels, and unicorns stroll from right to left, ostensibly cried out by other baby giants lurking beyond your field of vision. Should you 'accidentally' obliterate one of these beasts, expect a rebuke from the software.

How do you win?

You're a winner just by playing. We're all winners in this world without rules.

There's no scoreboard, no timer, no quantitative feedback whatsoever. Upon losing, you receive a quote from a bad pop song from the 1980's. Evidently chickens are huge MTV fans.

We progressed to what appeared to be Level 2, but real life called us back to sanity. Should you manage to exterminate numbers of chickens sufficient to advance beyond Level 2, let us know.

Is it safe?

The game is played entirely in Flash, a mostly safe software environment that can be downloaded for free from the Adobe Corporation. Flash-based games populate all corners of the Internet: your computer should not be at risk as you blast oncoming chickens cried out by a giant baby.

Most Windows-based computers have a current version of the Flash Player installed. Unfortunately, some operating systems are incompatible with Flash: you may have to change computers in order to play AtakaChik. It's probably worth the trouble. There is a veritable plethora of online chicken games (see sidebar at right) and this game is certainly one of them.
