A Liberal Called Me A Mentally Challenged Child

Updated on September 30, 2015

9/30/2015 Update

All my comments left on the Death Penalty hub have been deleted.
Irregardless, I still love Liberals
and their imaginative name-calling.

Seems like an insult to mentally challenged kids...

Somehow I ended up perusing a poorly written screed bloviating on Capital Punishment. I'm sure the writer meant well. I noticed a glaring logic error obvious to any first-quartile public school graduate. I composed a comment and posted it. My comment generalized the logic error without actually identifying it. Beyond that I didn't think twice because most erstwhile authors on this site posses the common-sense gene.

The author got an emotional boo boo. I found myself referred to as an "Alley cat-rat", a "Mentally Retarded Child" and a "scraggly feral feline." PETA offered to defend me but I declined because I don't know what an "Alley cat-rat" is and maybe I would actually enjoy being one of those.

Cognitive Dissonance

Full disclosure: I haven't researched the veracity of anything written by this name-calling Liberal. There were many words formed into mostly grammatically correct sentences: that's promising. According to his/her article, Rubin Cantu was executed in 1993 for murder, but another defendant who pled guilty for robbery in the same incident signed an affidavit exonerating Cantu. OK, a criminal exonerated another criminal. I get it.

In the same article, my new friend summarized an unrelated death-penalty case in which the defendant was convicted by testimony from a "... career criminal with several felonies pending."

Hmmm... Those of us with eyes to see immediately observe the cognitive dissonance. Our ostensible author seeks to leverage testimony from convicted criminals only when such testimony suits his/her narrative.

Anyway, I posted a craftily composed comment exposing the dichotomy:

The one word a liberal loves: hypocrisy. Unless it's used against them.
The one word a liberal loves: hypocrisy. Unless it's used against them.

To his/her credit, I was asked for more information:

I provided an explanation that a normal child from a two-parent household could understand. I'd love to present it here but it's been deleted from the article.

I'm not retarded: My mother had me tested.
I'm not retarded: My mother had me tested.

This where it gets confusing

The commenter of the preceding comment is not the author of the article. Even I am confused: evidently I've stumbled into a nest of Liberals. They do tend to congregate in their private echo chambers.

Why me?

Liberals love rainbows, but they don't deal well with palettes of opinions. "Coexist" is a bumper sticker but nothing beyond that. For someone who's inhabited Hubages almost as long as I have, a somewhat thicker skin is expected. Things must be really spiffy up by the Lake.

As for me and my house, the death penalty is probably outmoded and improperly administered. All things being equal I'd say that years spent on death row amount to cruel and unusual punishment.

I wonder how my new friend feels about abortion? There's typically a Progressive dichotomy between dealing with convicted murders and and innocent babies.

Anyway, let's all try to get along and not call each other names. Online is a bad enough place without snark being countered with insults. We all have a part to play: it's OK if your part is a cautionary tale.

Can't we all just coexist?
Can't we all just coexist?

Conclusion

In conclusion, it's really hard to reach 700 words because I don't care all that much at this point. As a general rule I don't publish articles less than 700 words 'cause Google needs to see what I write. Fruitless, it would prove, if only HubPages denizes were treated to my compositions.

I would encourage all of my dear readers to continue correcting The Liberals whenever possible. Leave cogent comments. Snark is acceptable because it requires talent, but omit the name-calling because we don't want to sink to their level.

My policy is to delete comments only when they contain profanity or links. Any other comment is welcome. Feel free to call me names or anoint me as a heretofore undiscovered species of alley-dwelling creature. Your name-calling just makes you look goofy. I get a kick out of it but most people don't understand you as I do.

I don't call people names, unless Liberal/Progressive/Democrat/Democratic Socialist is offensive. Fair warning: I will tease you if you:

  • Endorse Sanders for President,
  • Assert that healthcare should be free, or
  • Insist that 9-11 was a false-flag operation.
